Fully Engage While Learning… The 3 Basic Types of Students

Submitted by Karl Newman on Wednesday, 3 September 2008No Comment

Learning 101….Old School / New School continued…..That was over 25 years ago… and now, over 10,000 books later, and a dedication to the Training Industry as my primary business throughout the last couple of decades… I thought I would go “Back To Basics”, and share the simple Lessons on Learning that he shared with me.

Here is the third of four consecutive daily posts.

Fully Engage While Learning… The 3 Basic Types of Students

1-Active Learners-They engage with questions and apply what they learn
2-Vacationers-They view training as a diversion, they listen but rarely apply what they learn
3-Prisoners-They see training as mandatory, they tune-out and don’t apply anything!

Multi-Sensory Learning… You Will Remember;

20% of what you Read
30% of what you Hear
40% of what you See
50% of what you Say
60% of what you Do
90% of what you See, Hear, Say, & Do
Questions:

You have listened to the podcasts, so tell us How do you like to learn?  What have you learned about learning?? Do you see yourself as a active learner, a vacationer or a prisoner of learning???  Did these four mini podcasts help provide reminders to how to achieve your goals?
